The Academy was founded in 1990. Ann Stewart (B.A., H.(Dip.) Ed., Honours in Applied Linguistics, Wits) has taught English since 1976, and has written a number of courses, including one for Anglo American mining staff, one for Group 5 building staff and one for Cargo motors cleaning staff. She also compiles materials for the Academy's courses. She has a great deal of experience and has experimented with different methods of making learning effective, adjusting and altering materials where necessary. Ann Stewart is the grammar consultant for the language website English-to-go.com, which issues lessons and provides services in grammar and vocabulary. Teachers and Students from around the world send grammatical queries for her to answer.
We have a number of teachers on our books, and all of them have qualifications and experience. Our main teacher is Riva Klompas (B.A. Soc.), who taught foreign children for 10 years before joining the Academy. She is friendly and gentle, qualities that are essential for inspiring confidence. She has internalised the Academy's Behaviourist methodology, and so the teaching is consistent in all classrooms.
